Artificial Intelligence

Policy:

1. As an appointee to the A.I. Taskforce, embrace the Taskforce Recommendations

2. Implement the recommendations of the Final Taskforce report. Link: https://online.fliphtml5.com/gkqg/ytdm/#p=1

Rationale:

Jim Libby works for Thomas College in the field of higher education, where he has been educating business students on the use of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.).  He is considered a statewide expert, and has been interviewed by the media in that role.  He successfully led an effort to elevate A.I. as an action item in government, with the goal of maximization of business and community use of the tool as a means to achieve value-added results across the Maine economy.

As a result of his expertise and his position as a State Senator and member of the Joint Standing Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs, he was appointed to the A.I. Committee.

Jim stands behind the lengthy document that has been released by the bipartisan A.I. Commission.  The difficult work begins now, as the report's recommendations are lengthy, and Maine is perceived as being behind other states in terms of policy rollout and practical implementation.
